Extension of Provisional Permission
Provisional Permission is a permission granted by the Competent Authority prior
to the grant of Written Permission.
All Provisional Permission shall lapse 6 months following the date
of its granting unless a longer period is specified in the provisional
permission or the competent authority otherwise directs in writing.
An application for extension of provisional permission can only
be made 2 months (earliest) before the expiry of the Provisional
Permission.
Extension Of Written Permission
Except where the competent authority imposes a condition to the
contrary, every written permission shall lapse if the development
or works authorised by it are not completed or effected within 2
years.
An application for extension of written permission can only be
made 2 months (earliest) before the expiry of the Written Permission.
For approved developments where no construction works have started,
if the site is not affected by public schemes or planning studies,
they will be given up to 2 extensions of WP to enable works to start
(ie. a total of 6 years from the date of the original WP).
Once foundation or piling works have been completed, further WP
extension can be given as long as there is sufficient progress of
construction works on site. Applicants are advised to declare this
on the EDAForm for WP extension with site photographs showing the
completed works.
